Timber Pizza Co. Twitter/X Food Review

Margherita at Timber Pizza Co.

Cold as Ice

Margherita Pie at Timber Pizza Co. Ballston. Good value (only $13) but flimsy and underdone, with very little tomato sauce away from the center (making it even flimsier) Nice cheese, but needs salt & more time in oven. GradeD- (rivals @PapaJohns for worst in area)

Thunderbolts* Twitter/X Movie Review

Florence Pugh & friends star in Thunderbolts*

Uber & Alcohol

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: In "Thunderbolts*," Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes - Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and John Walker. After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart, or find redemption and unite as something much more before it's too late?

Jersey Mike's Woodley Park Update

Jersey Mike's Subs... Coming soon

Jersey Mike's Still Coming... but It Might Take a While

When news arrived of Jersey Mike's Subs opening across the street from the National Zoo, yours truly almost had a heart attack. Steak sandwiches seven days a week, less than two blocks from home? Sold! A coming soon banner confirmed the rumors (in addition to a mention on Jersey Mike's website) but once future neighbor Falafel Inc. opened next door, the banner disappeared. Fear not, sub fans. Jersey Mike's is still coming, but judging by the photo below, it might take a while. The former longtime home to Cathedral Pharmacy has been (literally) dug up inside, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're opening before Christmas. In the meantime, the aforementioned Falafel Inc. is fantastic (and cheap!) We'll keep you posted.

Predictions for 97th Annual Academy Awards

This year's Oscars telecast is flying under the radar, probably in part to a lack of good, yet alone great movies. Conan O'Brien is hosting, so there is (some level of) hope, but regardless of the caliber, predictions must be made. If nothing else, this could be the most difficult Oscars to predict in recent memory.

Men’s Basketball Drops Rock Fight With George Mason, 53-50

The rematch between George Washington and George Mason after last month's double-overtime contest in Fairfax resulted in every bit of the slugfest fans would expect from the nearby rivals. In a game that saw the GW Revs climb back from a 13-point hole with 10 minutes to go to take a two-point lead with 1:56 left, GW couldn't hold on as GM survived a 53-50 squeaker after a buzzer-beating 3-point try from the Buff & Blue was off.

The Hunter's Hound Food Review

The Hound Burger at The Hunter's Hound

Tis' the season to visit an Irish pub (sort of) in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The Hunter's Hound doesn't ooze Ireland, unless you count a few hosts in green sweaters, but it was openly cheerful, clean and loud. Reservations help, but when you're walking in with Mr. Smooth himself (the legendary Arch Campbell) primo spot tables magically appear. It was busy, but we were served in a timely manner (thank you Zack) minus a water refill or two. Arch and I opted for an Irish Soda Bread opener ($4.50) followed by a couple of Hound Burgers with French fries ($18 each.)
